Active, Hands-On Learning
Active Hands-On Learning
At Calvert Nursery School, we believe in the power of active, hands-on learning experiences for young children. Our curriculum is designed to engage students in interactive activities that stimulate their senses and promote a deeper understanding of the world around them. Through exploring materials, manipulating objects, and participating in group projects, children develop crucial skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. Our dedicated teachers facilitate these experiences, encouraging children to ask questions, make observations, and draw connections between different concepts. By providing a dynamic learning environment that values exploration and discovery, we help our students build a strong foundation for future academic success.
School Readiness
School Readiness at Calvert Nursery School focuses on equipping children with skills for school success through a structured curriculum emphasizing cognitive, social, and emotional growth. We prioritize literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and social skills development in a supportive environment to nurture independence, confidence, and a love for learning. Collaboration with parents ensures individualized attention for each child, setting them on a path towards academic achievement and personal growth.
Group Interactions
Small group and whole group interactions play integral roles in the learning experiences at Calvert Nursery School.
Our small group sessions provide a more personalized setting where children can engage with their peers and teachers in a focused environment. These interactions allow for deeper discussions, one-on-one support, and tailored activities to meet each child's unique needs and interests.
Conversely, our whole group activities foster a sense of community and collaboration among all students. Through group discussions, shared projects, and team-based games, children learn important social skills such as communication, teamwork, and respect for others' opinions.
By incorporating both small group and whole group interactions into our curriculum, we aim to provide a well-rounded learning experience that not only enhances academic growth but also nurtures social and emotional development in our students.
Creative Learning through Making and Moving
Children are actively involved in the learning process while in the four-year-old program. Building upon basic preschool ideas, letter and number concepts are introduced and explored through a variety of lively activities including music, stories, and process art projects. The development of appropriate social skills is guided through teacher, parent, and child interactions.
